CAYUSE - GRANTS.GOV
Cayuse is a web-based, system-to-system interface with Grants.gov, compatible
with Mac and PC, for all federal grant submissions (NIH, NSF, DOD) using
SF424 RR Adobe-B/B2 forms. The PI's assistant will download the
required FOA forms into Cayuse to create an application and help the PI
with its completion.

• GRANTS:
If a renewal application is not pending or planned, then 90 days after the end date of the award, the PI uploads the final progress report to the last year of the grant in the STATUS tab of the eRA Common (e.g., 5R01GM000344-10), and answers NO to the invention question. The answer triggers a notice to C&G to submit the report to NIH.
• FELLOWSHIPS:
Electronically prepare and submit Termination form PHS416-7 via the eRA Commons xTRAIN system
RPPR (eRA COMMONS) Progress Reports. If a UCSF grant award has SNAP status, the continuation (progress) report is submitted via the Commons, and is due 45 days before the start date of the next fund period. RPPR (Research Performance Progress Report) is the new report system, still being piloted, that replaces the PHS2590 hard copy and the eSNAP online reports.
NIH PUBLIC ACCESS PROCEDURES
As of 5/25/08, all investigators funded by the NIH must submit to PubMed Central an electronic version of their final, peer-reviewed manuscripts no later than 12 months after the official date of publication. All mss without PMCID numbers must be submitted to the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS) as soon as accepted for publication. As of 8/21/09, the NIHMSID may be used for pubs reported on progress reports when the report is due before a final PMCID can be obtained. Submission methods. Link to the Public Access Policy.
PHS & UCSF COI REQUIREMENTS
As of 8/24/12, new PHS Conflict of Interest regulations are mandatory. To meet the regulations, a UCSF PI and all key personnel must:
• complete an online financial disclosure questionnaire after an application submission--requested by the COI-Smart system, and;
• complete COI training offered at the UC Learning Center. (Select the "COIR" course.) UCOP requires the COIR course to be taken by researchers every two years.
