Configure Thunderbird

Follow these steps below to configure your office computer and/or your laptop/home computer.

Thunderbird 1.0 is the only client that is supported. Thunderbird can be download for the Mac | PC | Linux, from www.mozilla.org. The following instructions are for both Mac and PC, although the screen shots are of a Mac OS-X.

1. Open the Application, Thunderbird

2. In the Menubar, go to "Tools" down to "Account Settings..."

• Select "Server Settings " in the left pane.
  • Check the box next to "use secure connection (SSL)"
  • Check the box next to "use secure authentication"

• Select "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" in the left pane.
  • Choose the button next to "SSL", under "Use secure connection:"
  • Click "OK" at the bottom
  • Quit your Tunderbird Email Application, re-launch it, and re-enter your password, if asked.

• Quit your Tunderbird Email Application.
• Change your password using the new happymail link:
  • https://happymail.ucsf.edu:9100/
• Re-launch Thunderbird, and re-enter your password, if asked.
