Connect
to an IP based print device
- Find
the IP Address of the print device, i.e. 128.218.121.253.
- Ask
someone in your area or lab.
- Look
for the IP Address on or near the printer.
- Install
the correct printer descriptions and print drivers.
- Printer
drivers and descriptions are data files that include printer-specific
information for a particular printer model. Otherwise, you will
experience printing problems.
- Download
Printer Descriptions directly from the print manufacture's website
(i.e. Epson,
HP,
or Tektronix).
- Open
the application "Desktop Printer Utility," if you can't
find it perform a search on your drive.
- In the
"New Desktop Printer" window, select "LaserWriter,"
highlight "Printer (LPR)," and click "OK."
- In the
"Untitled 1" window,
- In
the "Untitled 1" window, next to "PostScript
Printer Description (PPD) File," click "Change..." Find
your printer description within the list, highlight it, then click "Select."
- In
the "Untitled 1" window, next to "LPR Printer Selection,"
click "Change..." In the "Internet Printer" window,
type in the print device's IP Address or DNS Host name in the first
field. Click "Verify," if the printer is verified click "OK."
- In the lower right corner,
click "Create..." To rename the printer so you know where and
what it is, for example "Bch 9W HP8000-121.253" Save it to
desktop. (Note: All desktop Printers must be on the Desktop).

You will see the printer on the desktop. To make it your
default printer, click on the printer once to higlight it. Go to the Menu
bar, select "Printing" and go down to "Set Default Printer"
