Assistant Professor
Kira.Poskanzer@ucsf.edu

Dr. Kira Poskanzer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of California, San Francisco. Her lab is investigating the function of astrocytes, a glial cell type, in cerebral cortical microcircuits. They use multi-photon microscopy and electrophysiology to study populations of neurons and astrocytes at single-cell and subcellular resolution. By applying these techniques to mice in vivo and in acute brain slices, they can address how non-neuronal circuit elements shape neural processing at the cellular and circuit levels.
